About Us

Who We Are

Amador County Animal Response Team (Amador CART) is an all-volunteer organization whose mission is to provide emergency assistance to Amador County residents and their domestic animals and livestock by providing animal shelter and care for those animals when their owners are forced to evacuate their homes due to a disaster.

ACART operates under the direction of the County Office of Emergency Services and the County Animal Control Director. At the time of a county wide emergency response, we collaborate with local and state agencies such as CalFire, Amador Fire Protection District and Sheriff’s Office to set up shelter operations, intake, manage and care for animals displaced during a disaster. When owners can return home, our reward is seeing owners and animals reunited and heading home.

ACART is not funded as part of the county budget and remains a volunteer organization dependent on grants and the generosity of concerned citizens and community business leaders for their generous donations.
